Four year old Pragati Londhe is one of five children. Her father, Dyaneshwar Londhe, is a gardener and her mother, Vijaymala, is a housewife. They are a family of seven that includes Pragati, her three sisters, one brother and parents.
Pragati hails from Mankhurd, one of the innumerable poverty stricken slum pockets in Mumbai. The family income is barely enough to make both ends meet.
Sahaara’s balwadi is situated near Pragati’s house and this is a boon to Pragati because majority of slum children are deprived of quality and accessible education. Sahaara’s balwadi has a systematic curriculum wherein children are equipped in the following subjects over the period of a year: English and Hindi: alphabets and poems, writing skills, general knowledge (colours, animals, flowers, personal hygiene etc), colouring, games and activities such as counting and recognition.
Pragati loves to attend the balwadi as apart from studies, there are several playtime activities to engage the children as well. She is a quiet child but has a hunger to learn more and more from her teachers. She is helpful and is a good listener.
Your generous donation, Deepthi, will enable Sahaara to provide an entire year of education to Pragati, thereby ensuring that she has the opportunity to a stable future!
Thank you, Deepthi, for your support of Pragati!
